Temple Newsam Learning Partnership

As a member of the Temple Newsam Learning Partnership – A Co-operative Trust,  we work closely with our local high and primary schools and key partners, together we have been able to achieve more for our children and community.  Collectively we employ a range of staff that provide specialist support for individual and groups of children, support for families and opportunities for adults and children to continue their learning outside of school.

We work very closely with all of our partner schools, sharing expertise and resources inorder to improve the opportunities that our children and families have.

Together with Colton Primary School we host the Templenewsam Colton Children’s Centre. This provides for a team of specialist Early Years professionals who deliver the Sure Start core offer for 0 to 5 year olds across a reach area encompassing the Colton, Austhorpe, Templenewsam and Whitkirk communities.

The Temple Learning Academy
Our new Free School opening September 2015
Recent consultation with TNLP Trust parents and carers highlighted that there are a number of important services missing from the local community or a general lack of choice in the following areas:-

Under 5s childcare

Before and after school provision

Breakfast clubs

Weekend provision

Leisure and sports services

Community Cafe

Adult Learning

In addition to the above a significant number of  families within the community are unable to get their first choice primary school, leading to many children attending schools that are a distance away from where they live. With an increased birth rate within Leeds and proposed new house building projects in the East the demand for Trust primary school places can only grow.
To this end the Learning Partnership has been successful in bidding for a Free School and the Trust is currently in the process of ensuring that the Telmple Learning Academy Free School is open to its first sixty Reception children in September 2015.
What the TNLP Trust is doing – The Vision
We are opening a Free School in the heart of Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe. As primary school places are in demand, this would be the priority although there may be options to look at accommodating under 5s and High School age pupils in the future. The Free School will have a distinctive offer which increases parental choice for a high quality education at the heart of the community. It will provide:
Open access to pupils and their families through an extended school day and being open all year round.
Early access to family centred preschool learning and learning through play and discovery.
Access to a formal curriculum which establishes the strong foundations of literacy and numeracy but also enables students to develop key life skills such as problem solving through project based activities that reflect the key strands of the national curriculum.
Access to a formal enrichment programme which forms part of the extended day and builds confidence through real life experiences.
Access to wraparound care via an onsite extended services team providing easy links to co-ordinated multi agency support.
